Should I Start An INFJ Book Club? “Atomic Habits” by James Clear

Navigating Life’s Habits: James Clear’s “Atomic Habits”

Hey there, fellow seekers of inner strength! Following our exploration of the intriguing intersection between INFJ insights and Stoic wisdom in our previous article, let’s now explore another realm – books! An essential tool for INFJs enriched with timeless wisdom.

In the tranquil ambiance of my haven, where solitude and contemplation hold sway, I chanced upon James Clear’s “Atomic Habits” about a year ago—an encounter that lingers in my thoughts. Since immersing myself in its pages, I’ve been on a quest to fine-tune my daily habits. I even playfully share the idea of embracing more habits with friends facing daily challenges. Little did I foresee that this encounter would propel me from introspective realms to the nuanced art of mastering habits.

Clear’s brilliance shines in breaking down habits into understandable bits, like uncovering universe secrets. Every small habit, a revelation, pledges to turn the overwhelming idea of change into an achievable journey—an odyssey beginning with a simple lap around the sanctuary’s edges.

As these tiny habits multiplied, I explored new areas, engaging in daily workouts in the quiet pre-dawn. I make the bed before leaving the house and prepare food in the evening for a healthy meal after my morning workout the next day. I read 10 pages a day and study a new language every day—something I already started a bit before; we are on a 711-day streak as we speak. “Atomic Habits” unleashed a power—an evolution of habits quicker than the ebb and flow of the moon’s phases, each with its own meaningful impact.

The book’s allure lies not only in its wisdom on habits but also in the subtle humor delicately woven into each chapter. It resonated with the whimsicality of my INFJ mind, resembling a wise sage delivering insights with a touch of cosmic irony. The knowledge within this book feels like something we all understand, yet often fail to apply or contemplate sufficiently. What the book provided me was a series of helpful reminders as I read it daily. During this time, I implemented its methods immediately—a practice I encourage you all to adopt for immediate effectiveness. Don’t procrastinate; make it smaller, more manageable, until you’re ready to progress to the next step with any habit you aim to achieve.

Yet, amid the laughter, “Atomic Habits” doesn’t promise an overnight metamorphosis into an habit superhero. It won’t unravel the mysteries of the vanishing sock or confer a doctorate in the intricate dance of productivity. Instead, it offers a map for crafting habits that align with the INFJ’s quest for purpose and fulfillment.

As I closed the book, a peculiar blend of empowerment an contemplation settled in. The revelation dawned—change isn’t a sudden revolution but a cosmic dance of laughably small, seemingly insignificant steps toward a more intentional and harmonious life.

Thinking out loud: Intrigued by the transformative power of literature, I’m contemplating the idea of launching an INFJ book club. A cosmic rendezvous where kindred spirits can dissect the galaxies of thought within the pages of books. What do you think? Please share your thoughts with me!
